Here you will find batteries, chargers and charging accessories for Segway PT i2 and x2 models of the Gen2 and SE generations. The range includes professionally rebuilt Segway PT Li-ion batteries, the current PT Pro 7.2 Ah High-Cap cell block, an original Segway external charger, suitable charging cables, battery seals and packaging solutions for shipping Segway PT Li-ion batteries.
PT Pro repairs and rebuilds Segway PT batteries using our own 7.2 Ah High-Cap cell blocks. When suitable batteries are rebuilt, the original Segway BMS can be retained if it is technically functional and suitable for the repair.
If you experience reduced range, charging problems or battery faults, we recommend diagnosis first. Not every battery or charging problem requires complete battery replacement.
Segway PT batteries for i2, x2, Gen2 and SE
The two Li-ion batteries of the Segway PT supply the vehicle with energy and are electronically monitored by the system. Battery condition, age, use and storage have a significant influence on available range and reliability.
PT Pro has many years of practical experience with diagnostics, repair and cell replacement for Segway PT batteries. A battery showing reduced performance or abnormal behaviour does not therefore automatically need to be replaced completely.
PT Pro 7.2 Ah High-Cap Segway PT battery
For suitable Segway PT Li-ion battery rebuilds, PT Pro now primarily uses its own 7.2 Ah High-Cap cell block. The cell block is manufactured specifically for this application and is used by PT Pro for the repair and professional rebuilding of suitable Segway PT batteries.
In PT Pro comparison measurements, these 7.2 Ah High-Cap batteries typically achieve approximately 135 to 142 percent of the comparison baseline used by PT Pro. This is a PT Pro measurement and comparison value and not a guaranteed driving range. Actual range depends on factors including the vehicle, tyres and tyre pressure, rider weight, surface, temperature, riding style and overall system condition.
Retaining the original Segway BMS
An important component of the Segway PT battery is the Battery Management System (BMS). It monitors and controls important battery functions and communicates with the vehicle.
When professionally rebuilding a suitable battery, PT Pro retains the existing original Segway BMS whenever possible, provided that it is technically functional and suitable for continued use. Based on our practical experience, the combination of a suitable cell block and original Segway electronics is particularly important for reliable operation in the Segway PT.
If the BMS itself is damaged or faulty, it must first be determined whether repair or suitable replacement is technically possible and economically reasonable.
Repair or replace a Segway PT battery?
If range decreases or charging problems occur, the actual cause should first be identified. In addition to aged or damaged cells, the electronics, BMS, charging system, electrical contacts or other components may also be involved.
PT Pro can inspect suitable Segway PT batteries and rebuild them depending on their condition. This can allow usable original components to remain in service instead of replacing the complete battery without prior diagnosis.
Charging a Segway PT correctly
Segway PT Gen2 and SE models use an integrated charging system. For charging, the power cord is connected to the vehicle charge port and a suitable grounded AC outlet.
Segway specifies that the charge port, power cord and AC outlet must be clean, dry and free of debris. The integrated charging system automatically prevents overcharging.
During normal charging, both batteries installed on the vehicle are charged through the Segway PT.
External Segway charger for two batteries
For additional batteries or applications where batteries need to be charged outside the vehicle, PT Pro offers the original Segway Off-Board Charger. It can charge two removed Segway PT batteries simultaneously outside the vehicle.
This is particularly useful for tour operators, companies and other applications with high vehicle utilisation because an additional battery set can be charged independently of the Segway PT.
Charging cables for Segway PT
PT Pro offers suitable Segway PT charging cables as well as a Y-version for connecting two vehicles to a suitable power outlet.
Damaged, overheated or mechanically compromised cables and connectors must not be used. Before charging, check the charge port, plug and cable for visible damage and moisture.
Segway PT batteries during extended storage
Correct storage is important for the service life of Li-ion batteries. Segway recommends keeping the Segway PT connected to a suitable grounded AC outlet when it is not in use. During extended storage, operation of the charging system should be checked regularly.
PT Pro's practical experience shows that battery problems are often noticed after long periods of inactivity or unsuitable storage. Segway PT batteries should therefore not be left unattended for extended periods or stored under unsuitable conditions.
Shipping Segway PT Li-ion batteries
Segway PT Li-ion batteries are subject to specific requirements during transport. PT Pro therefore offers suitable packaging sets for shipping two Segway PT Li-ion batteries.
The packaging set alone does not automatically make every shipping method permissible. The applicable dangerous-goods regulations and the requirements of the selected carrier must always be observed for the specific shipment.
