New Segway PT Vehicles – i2 SE and x2 SE

The Segway PT is a self-balancing personal transporter with two parallel wheels. Acceleration and braking are controlled through forward and backward body movement, while direction is controlled through the LeanSteer steering system.

Although production of the Segway PT has ended, PT Pro continues to offer new Segway PT vehicles from remaining available stock. Current models include the Segway PT i2 SE and Segway PT x2 SE.

Segway PT i2 SE or x2 SE – What Is the Difference?

Both models use the fundamental self-balancing Segway PT concept but are designed for different applications.

Segway PT i2 SE

The Segway PT i2 SE is the more compact version with standard tyres. According to Segway, the vehicle is 63 cm wide and has 8.5 cm of unloaded ground clearance.

Its compact dimensions make the i2 SE particularly suitable for paved surfaces and applications where vehicle width and manoeuvrability are important.

Segway PT x2 SE

The Segway PT x2 SE uses wider all-terrain tyres and provides greater ground clearance. According to Segway, the vehicle is 84 cm wide and has 11.2 cm of unloaded ground clearance.

This makes the x2 SE better suited to varied surfaces and applications beyond exclusively paved environments. Its greater width should be considered when evaluating doorways, access, transport and storage.

Key Specifications of the i2 SE and x2 SE

Segway specifies a maximum speed of 20 km/h (12.5 mph) and a maximum payload of 117 kg (260 lb), including rider and cargo, for both SE models.

Manufacturer-specified range differs between the two vehicle concepts:

• Segway PT i2 SE: 26–39 km (16–24 miles) on a full charge
• Segway PT x2 SE: 14–19 km (9–12 miles) on a full charge

Actual range depends on factors including rider weight, riding style, terrain, gradients, tyre pressure, temperature and battery age and condition.

Why Are New Segway PT Vehicles Still Available?

The Segway PT is no longer in production. However, individual unused or new vehicles from remaining stock may still be available.

Availability is naturally limited. Once a particular vehicle or configuration has been sold, identical replacement stock cannot be assumed to be available.

Buy a New or Used Segway PT?

Whether a new or used Segway PT represents the more appropriate purchase depends on individual requirements.

A new vehicle may be attractive to buyers who specifically prefer an unused Segway PT. A technically sound used Segway PT can provide an economically attractive alternative.
